Small and highly precise actuation tasks are best solved with piezoelectric elements, which transform electric voltage into a mechanic change of length. The longer the piezoelectric element, the larger is the motion that can be generated. While the motion is most often generated along the longest dimension of the piezoelectric element, the motion of Elliptec’s actuator is perpendicular to the longest dimension.
With the A10E actuator, we offer a component that combines a multilayer piezoelectric element with a stroke-amplifying lever arm in a way that allows the actuator be used without modifications in a variety of applications.
The A10E is already being used for actuating a mirror unit inside a rear projection television set where it ensures the best picture quality.
Features:
Preloaded piezoelectric element
Motion amplified
Low voltage of operation
Operation:
The A10E actuator combines a piezoelectric element with an aluminum frame into which it is press-fit. Not much more is needed for generating motion. When voltage is supplied to the piezoelectric element, the element expands and bends the rod-shaped actuator.
The resulting motion is directly available for your application. The actuator displacement depends on the mechanical load on the actuator: Without load the maximal displacement is achieved, while at a maximal load actuator motion is prevented.
